Special Security Unit (SSU) in collaboration International Police Organization – Pakistan organized the ‘𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐠𝐮𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑’, the shooting competition was held at Chowkandi SSU Headquarters.

 

137 participants from different walks of life participated in the competition in three categories which included law enforcement officers, civilians and women.

 

Teams from the Pakistan Navy, Intelligence Bureau (IB), ASF Pakistan (ASF), National Highways & Motorway Police-NHMP, Punjab Police Pakistan, Balochistan Police, Rapid Response Force (RRF), CTD Sindh, SBB, EPTC Razzakabad and (CPLC Sindh) Citizens Police Liaison Committee participated in law & enforcement and women category, while a large number of citizens participated in the civilian category.

 

In the category of 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, SSU Commando Abdul Shakoor, Punjab Police’s Muhammad Iftikhar Khan and CTD Sindh’s Aamir Bangash bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.

 

In the 𝐜𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲, Arsalan Anwar, Fazal Subhan and Imad ul Haque bagged the first, second and third positions, while in the women’s category, SSU won first and third positions while National Highway & Motorway Police got second position.

 

A grand ceremony was held at the end of the competition. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐫  𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐳 was the chief guest of the event. 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡, 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐆 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐦 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐃𝐈𝐆 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐪𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐝, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐒𝐔 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐤𝐡 𝐀𝐥𝐢, current and former senior officers of the Police, officials of Pakistan Army and bureaucrats participated in the ceremony. The chief guest distributed cash prizes, medals and certificates to the winners of the competitions.

 

On this occasion, the Interim Home Minister said that the organization of the shooting championship by SSU is a welcoming note which is evidence of the professional and administrative capabilities of the unit. He hoped that SSU would continue to organize such competitions in the future which will highlight the positive image of the police.

 

DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed addressing the ceremony said that the main objective of organizing the Handgun Shooting Championship is to create a platform from which the citizens of Pakistan can highlight their shooting skills and represent the country at the international level.
